01 / FIRST, A WALK ABOVE THE SEA
Welcome to Shonandaira, a hill between Hiratsuka and Oiso on Japan’s Shonan coast. Look south to Sagami Bay and the Pacific, west to Mount Fuji and Hakone, and across the city towards the Kanto Plain.
Take in the view. Follow a leafy path. Stop for coffee. Then wander down to Komayama Sansou, about a ten-minute walk away.
Around 180 m above the sea · Views depend on the weather

On a clear day, the panorama stretches from the coast to distant mountains. In spring, cherry blossoms soften the paths; in autumn, the woodland changes colour.

Make room for a café stop at the hilltop rest house. Enjoy the view over a meal or pancakes, and check the café’s current opening hours before you visit.

02 / WELCOME TO KOMAYAMA SANSOU
A house in the trees, with two upstairs rooms and an outdoor BBQ area available for gatherings by prior arrangement. Come together after a walk, share a pot of tea, or plan a small workshop.

Shoes off, shoulders down. An eight-mat Japanese-style room for tea, conversation, reading and small gatherings.

A table, chairs and room for ideas. A relaxed setting for workshops, meetings and time with friends.

Good company, fresh air and something on the grill. Ask us about equipment, food, fire use and wet-weather plans.
The house is also a home for small publishing projects and bodywork seminars — a place to share stories, learn and spend time together.
A DETOUR THROUGH TIME
Nearby Oiso is known for historic villas and gardens associated with leaders of the Meiji era, and for its pioneering place in Japan’s seaside bathing culture.
At the southern foot of Mount Koma, Takaku Shrine and local traditions recall ancient connections across the sea to the Korean peninsula. Add a town walk to your hillside day.
